Lavender Bay is located 3 kilometres north of the Sydney CBD, in the local government area of North Sydney Council.

3 facts about Lavender Bay:

1. Lavender Bay was named after the Boatswain (bosun), George Lavender, from the prison hulk "Phoenix", which was moored there for many years. The bay was originally called Hulk Bay and sometimes Phoenix Bay.

2. Wendy Whiteley (wife of the artist Brett Whiteley and the mother of the actress Arkie Whiteley) is also known for the restoration and landscaping of a derelict public area in Lavender Bay, which she turned into a "magic garden" – Wandy's secret garden.

3. A wharf is located in the bay which provides access to private vessels.
